About Nick Fanelli

My journey begins with 4 1/2 years of college, studying advertising design and photography and also fine art photography.

My camera's have taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world and as well, to the most horrific attack on our country in American history.

From shooting the most elegant and creative fashion designs on the runways at Fashion Week, Bryant Park, NY (over 200 fashon shows in 5 years) to cries of anger and protest at war demonstrations on Fifth Avenue.

Political campaigns, holiday parades, celebrity events, concerts, theatre and dance performance, have all been a part of my experience through the viewfinder.

Owning and operating three photography studio's in the past 20 years and 5,000 hours of darkroom time in no way left me in the dark about shooting fashion model portfolio's and comp cards, headshots, portraits, advertising and product photography.

With my 8x10 and 5x7 view cameras, i explored the ANSEL ADAMS "Zone System of Exposure" and with my state of the are Canon EOS 1D digital camera and my Apple Powerbook, I am deeply emersed in the world of digital photography.

My photography represents my understanding of the art itself. "the recording of light on film". It is a view of my awareness of "light", its characteristics, color temperatures, how it can be reflected, diffused, controlled, and most importantly, the moods it can set.

Embrace the concept of "light as paint", and you embrace the art of photography.

I will continue to persue my love for photography until I can no longer see the light.
